TECHNOLOGY
The School for Human Rights offers a dynamic, innovative, and exciting technology program that focuses on both computer science and web design and programming. The goal of our program is to not only create programmers; but to also show our students the power of computer science and web design as a problem-solving technique. To that end, our classes exposes students to a variety of programming languages and paradigms. Our students learn that there is no “best” language or tool, but will understand the power of finding the best tool for a given task.
The program exposes students to a variety of problem-solving techniques and opens students to new and different ways of thinking. Through our partnerships with Computer Science for All, Microsoft TEALS, Games for Change, and Amazon Future Engineers Pathway the goal is to inspire our students to learn to think with the computer, instead of using computers and technology to convey their thinking. Students will learn computational thinking, problem solving, creativity, and critical thinking. They will also learn to collaborate and build relationships with peers, communicate and create with technologies, and to better understand technologies we interact with daily.
